CLARA MASEDA JUAN holds a BA(Hons) Architecture and Planning from UWE (Bristol) and she recently completed an MA Programme in “Philosophy for contemporary challenges” at UOC (Barcelona) with her thesis Desiring to find a “gap”. Her interest in understanding a craft dimension led her to experiment in her making with music, dance and lutherie. She has worked with Spanish architecture and design collectives such as Basurama and Todoporlapraxis, and as an architecture illustrator she has contributed to projects from MVRDV and Raumlabor Berlin. She has also been mediator and guest artist in several workshops for universities and public administrations related with co-design and community interaction/integration. In addition, she has worked as a director or art assistant in several short films, advertising campaigns and theatrical scenographies. As a spatial practitioner, she commits to having a relational gaze on the membrane-gaps that dwell between the intimate and the collective.

urban scenographer ?

As an urban scenographer* I am a generalist mediator with an artistic vocation and technical skills: architect, illustrator, art director, craftswoman, philosopher…

I work from attention -urbanity- mediating in the realm of gestures and rites -scenographies- of the common spaces of intersection-interaction between the intimate and the collective. I understand “urban” not as the opposite of “natural” but as urbanity, synonymous of attention. Urban not of “city” but of “care” (word game in spanish). An urbanity that is attention to living: care, listening, dialogue…
