CUMULUS OR TRANSFORMATION PLAYS WITH THE PERCEPTION-DATING DIALECTIC. IN THE NEW CITY (OF THE PANDEMIC) IT IS IMPORTANT TO PRESERVE THE DYNAMICS OF LIFE AS MUCH AS OR MORE THAN THOSE OF CALCULATION. THE PROJECT IS AN AWARENESS OF THE INCREASE OF DATA ON (IMPOSED ON) PERCEIVED REALITY: LIFE ON CALCULATION OR CALCULATION ON LIFE?

CÚMULO O TRANSFORMACIÓN JUEGA CON LA DIALÉCTICA PERCEPCIÓN-DATACIÓN. EN LA NUEVA CIUDAD (DE LA PANDEMIA) IMPORTA PRESERVAR LAS DINÁMICAS DE VIDA IGUAL O MÁS QUE LAS DE CÁLCULO. EL PROYECTO ES UNA TOMA DE CONCIENCIA DEL INCREMENTO DEL DATO SOBRE (IMPUESTO A) LA REALIDAD PERCIBIDA. ¿LA VIDA SOBRE EL CÁLCULO O EL CÁLCULO SOBRE LA VIDA?

From drifts through the public space of Madrid, I make a series of hand made illustrations of details of buildings (georeferenced) cut out against the sky. By vertically extending that public space, I discover a sky crossed by a multitude of satellites, a hidden world of data and emerging businesses. From here I conceive an audiovisual installation (sound video) that, based on the georeferencing, superimposes handmade illustrations and digital data. Finally, illustrations and audiovisual installation are integrated into an exhibition setting that occupies a single space.

A partir de derivas por el espacio público de Madrid, realizo una serie de ilustraciones manuales de detalles de edificios (georreferenciados) recortándose contra el cielo. Al prolongar verticalmente ese espacio público, descubro un cielo atravesado por multitud de satélites, un mundo oculto de datos y negocios emergentes. Desde aquí concibo una instalación audiovisual (vídeo sonora) que, a partir de la georreferencia, superpone ilustraciones hechas a mano y datos digitales. Finalmente, ilustraciones e instalación audiovisual se integran en una ambientación expositiva que ocupa un único espacio.

Perception is the action of capturing something in its entirety, of relating to the environment. Dating is the action of assigning space-time data, of coding. In perception, the centre that is observed disappears, filling up with what is perceived. In dating everything is reified, including that centre.

Percepción es la acción de capturar algo al completo, de relacionarse con el entorno. Datación es la acción de asignar datos espacio-temporales, de codificar. En la percepción el centro que observa se desvanece, llenándose de lo percibido. En la datación todo se cosifica, incluyendo ese centro.

Perception is the basis of life. Data is the basis of calculation, of numerical control. In perception there is living unleashing. In dating everything fits perfectly. Data concludes, accumulates, fragments, measures; perception includes, transforms, integrates, apprehends.

La percepción es la base de la vida. El dato la base del cálculo, del control numérico. En la percepción hay desencaje vivo. En la datación todo encaja a la perfección. El dato concluye, acumula, fragmenta, mide; la percepción incluye, transforma, integra, aprehende.
