FILTRAWA IS A SOCIO-CULTURAL CENTRE WITH A HEART OF WATER IN SEDHIOU (SENEGAL). WITH A WATER COLLECTION WELL IN THE MIDDLE IT PROPOSES A COMMUNITY SHARING FROM THE MOST IMPORTANT COMMON GOOD: WATER. STRENGTHENING THE COMMUNITY AND GENERATING A NEW SPACE FOR RELATIONSHIPS.

FILTRAWA ES UN CENTRO SOCIOCULTURAL CON CORAZÓN DE AGUA EN SEDHIOU (SENEGAL). CON UN POZO DE RECOLECTA DE AGUA EN EL CENTRO PROPONE UN COMPARTIR COMUNITARIO DESDE EL BIEN COMÚN MÁS IMPORTANTE: EL AGUA. FORTALECIENDO LA COMUNIDAD Y GENERANDO UN NUEVO ESPACIO DE RELACIONES.

The concentric organization of the communities of the region of Casamance inspires the form of FiltrAWA, which is organized around the well. FiltrAWA begins with the construction of the well and the base structure of the roof, which collects rainwater and water from the environment. From this core, it grows: rooms are formed with perforated brick walls (radial) and movable panels (concentric). These rooms are flexible and easy to expand or modify, allowing the building to grow or shrink with the community, accommodating everything from workshops, to a computer room, to an exhibition room, to an artist’s residence or any other emerging need.

Las comunidades de Casamance se organizan en torno a un espacio común central donde se realizan actividades sociales como la cocina. Esta organización concéntrica inspira la forma de FiltrAWA, que se organiza en torno al pozo. FiltrAWA comienza con la construcción del pozo y la estructura base del techo, que recolecta el agua de lluvia y del ambiente. A partir de ese núcleo va creciendo: se van cerrando salas con paredes de ladrillo perforado (radiales) y paneles móviles (concéntricos). Estas salas son flexibles y fáciles de ampliar o modificar, permitiendo al edificio crecer o decrecer con la comunidad, alojando desde talleres, a una sala de ordenadores, de exposiciones, una residencia artística o cualquier otra necesidad emergente.

WATER COLLECTING ·  Polyester mesh harvering and condensing water from the air (based on the Warka Tower technology). Tilted roof towards the centre to collect rainwater. The well has a filtration system to make the rainwater and air water drinkable.

RECOLECTA DE AGUA · Malla de poliéster que recoge y condensa el agua del aire (basada en la tecnología de la Torre Warka). Techo inclinado hacia el centro para recoger el agua de lluvia. El pozo tiene un sistema de filtración para hacer potable el agua de lluvia y del aire.

VENTILATION AND COOLING · The thatched roof over the elevated tilt structure allows for ventilation, natural cooling, shadow and water collecting.

VENTILACIÓN Y ENFRIAMIENTO · El techo de paja sobre la estructura inclinada elevada permite la ventilación, el enfriamiento natural, la sombra y la recogida de agua.

RENEWABLE ENERGY · Innovative solar panels used for the plump of the well and all electricity needs. A thin and lightweight film of OPV (Organic Photovoltaics) technology produced by the Brazilian company Sunew.

ENERGÍA RENOVABLE · Paneles solares innovadores utilizados para la bomba del pozo y todas las necesidades eléctricas. Una película delgada y ligera de tecnología OPV (Organic Photovoltaics) producida por la empresa brasileña Sunew.

FLEXIBLE PANEL WALLS (CONCENTRIC) · Movable panels are used to close spaces in a concentric direction. Spaces are changeable, as the panels are lightweight and easy to connect or disconnect with one another. Depending on the level of privacy needed the panel frame can be filled with different materials, from fabrics to empty plastic bottles or any other material at hand.

PANELES FLEXIBLES (CONCÉNTRICO) · Los paneles móviles se utilizan para cerrar espacios concéntricamente. Los espacios son cambiables, ya que los paneles son ligeros y fáciles de conectar o desconectar entre sí. Dependiendo del nivel de privacidad necesario, el marco del panel puede ser rellenado con diferentes materiales, desde telas hasta botellas de plástico vacías o cualquier otro material a mano.

MODULAR FURNITURE (RADIAL) · The perforated brick walls are built radially between the columns. Dividing the different spaces but allowing air movement and a module furniture system to be built in.  Any piece of furniture can be created by a simple system of wooden beams and panels, providing flexible designs to cover different needs.

MOBILIARIO MODULAR (RADIAL) · Los muros de ladrillo perforado se construyen radialmente entre las columnas. Dividiendo los diferentes espacios pero permitiendo el movimiento de aire y un sistema de muebles modulares.  Cualquier mueble puede ser creado por un simple sistema de vigas y paneles de madera, proporcionando diseños flexibles para cubrir diferentes necesidades.
