RURAL REPOPULATION WITH ACTIVE-CULTURAL RETIREES AND EXPANDED UNIVERSITY.

REPOBLACIÓN RURAL CON JUBILADOS ACTIVO-CULTURALES Y UNIVERSIDAD EXPANDIDA.

JÚBILO is a project in an embryonic state that proposes other ways of facing up to old age in today’s society. It seeks a sustainable model of self-care, where the elderly are not isolated from society but fully integrated and recognized; interconnected with younger generations and the world; active and autonomous. Especially during the pandemic we have seen that the current models of nursing homes or home care are not healthy or adequate ways of dealing with old age. We have also experienced how overpopulation of cities and abandonment of the rural environment is not sustainable. JÚBILO seeks to integrate these two problems into a joint solution, which will serve as a seed for rethinking the current ways of living and relating. JÚBILO seeks to be a model that can be reproduced in different communities, maintaining agreements with the universities closest to the place and with the city council of the area to be repopulated. It is a project that integrates repopulation, active-cultural tourism, education, culture, degrowth and, above all, self-care, which is essential to relate in a sustainable way among ourselves and with our environment.

JÚBILO es un proyecto en estado embrionario que plantea otras formas de afrontar la vejez en la sociedad actual. Buscando un modelo sostenible de autocuidados, dónde el mayor no se vea apartado de la sociedad sino plenamente integrado y reconocido; interconectado con generaciones más jóvenes y con el mundo; activo y autónomo. Especialmente durante la pandemia hemos visto que los modelos actuales de residencias de ancianos o asistencia a domicilio no son formas sanas ni adecuadas de afrontar la vejez. Asimismo hemos experimentado como la superpoblación de las ciudades y el abandono del entorno rural no es sostenible. JÚBILO busca integrar estas dos problemáticas en una solución conjunta, que sirva de semilla para replantearse las formas actuales de habitar y relacionarnos. JÚBILO busca ser un modelo que pueda reproducirse en diferentes comunidades, manteniendo convenios con las universidades más cercanas al lugar y con el ayuntamiento de la zona a repoblar. Es un proyecto que integra repoblación, turismo activo-cultural, educación, cultura, decrecimiento y, sobre todo, autocuidados, imprescindibles para relacionarnos de forma sostenible entre nosotros y con nuestro entorno.

Fixed population:

The active-cultural retirees are a cooperative of older people who are looking for alternative, active, autonomous and sustainable ways of coping with their old age, based on a network of self-care. Each person or couple has their own independent home, but beyond being isolated they generate, collectively, a network of self-care with self-managed common spaces. Young families who see other ways of raising their children in the rural environment can be added to this fixed population over time.

Población fija:

Los jubilados activo-culturales son una cooperativa de personas mayores que busca formas alternativas, activas, autónomas y sostenibles de afrontar su vejez, basada en la red de autocuidados. Cada persona o pareja cuenta con su vivienda independiente, pero más allá de verse aisladas generan, de forma colectiva, una red de autocuidados con espacios comunes auto gestionados. A esta población fija se pueden ir sumando familias jóvenes que ven en el entorno rural otras formas de criar a sus hijos.

Itinerant population:

Young university students are passing through, doing internships, learning by doing and providing specialized services in the cultural, health and agricultural fields. These young passers-by are active-cultural tourists (a concept developed by espacioGuia), generating an alternative tourism movement and bringing freshness and connectivity to the fixed population.

Población itinerante:

Los jóvenes universitarios están de paso, realizando prácticas, aprendiendo en su hacer y aportando servicios especializados en el ámbito cultural, sanitario y agrónomo. Estos jóvenes transeúntes son turistas activo-culturales (concepto desarrollado por espacioGuia), generando un movimiento turístico alternativo y aportando frescura y conectividad a la población fija.

Inhabiting the territory mutually:

Both groups of population actively inhabit the territory sharing knowledge and doing in an intergenerational way. The fixed population dignifies the place with its attentive living, welcoming the itinerant population, which through this active and sense living, is able to provide fresh solutions to the needs that arise.

Habitar el territorio mutuamente:

Ambos grupos de población habitan activamente el territorio compartiendo saberes y haceres de forma intergeneracional. La población fija dignifica el lugar con su habitar atento, acogiendo a la población itinerante, que a través de ese habitar activo y sentido, es capaz de proporcionar soluciones frescas a las necesidades que van surgiendo.
