FOOD IS AN ESSENTIAL DAILY MOMENT THAT WE USE TO GENERATE A CENTER FROM WHICH TO SHARE AND GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER; FROM THE MOMENT WE BUY THE INGREDIENTS, COOK, SUMMON THE PARTICIPANTS AND PREPARE “THE TABLE”, UNTIL FINALLY WE ALL BECOME DINERS.

LA COMIDA ES UN MOMENTO COTIDIANO ESENCIAL QUE UTILIZAMOS PARA GENERAR UN CENTRO DESDE EL QUE COMPARTIR Y CONOCERNOS; DESDE EL MOMENTO EN QUE COMPRAMOS LOS INGREDIENTES, COCINAMOS, CONVOCAMOS A LOS PARTICIPANTES Y PREPARAMOS “LA MESA”, HASTA QUE FINALMENTE TODOS NOS CONVERTIMOS EN COMENSALES.

During the 4th edition of the “Repas de Quartier” (“Community meal”) of the École Supérieure d’Art et Design de Valence (ESAD Valence), guest artists Fanny Maugey (plastissière) and Clara Maseda (urban scenographer) co-dynamize and lead a community meal between the new students of the school and the inhabitants of the suburban area of Fontbarlettes.

Fanny Maugey mediated the cooking, generating “edible architecture” with the students and neighbours, mixing local recipes with new displays.

Clara Maseda mediated a “town crier performance” through the neighbourhood to invite everyone to the event and collect memories and stories of the local people; as well as the co-design of “the table” (scenography).

Durante la 4ª edición del “Repas de Quartier” (“Comida comunitaria”) de la École Supérieure d’Art et Design de Valence (ESAD Valence), las artistas invitadas Fanny Maugey (plastissière) y Clara Maseda (urban scenographer) codinamizan y dirigen una comida comunitaria entre los nuevos alumnos de la escuela y los habitantes de la zona suburbana de Fontbarlettes.

Fanny Maugey medió la cocina, generando “arquitecturas comestibles” con los estudiantes y los vecinos, mezclando recetas locales con nuevos diseños.

Clara Maseda medió en una “actuación de pregoneros” por el barrio para invitar a todos al evento y recoger recuerdos e historias de la gente local; así como el co-diseño de “la mesa” (escenografía).

SELF-MANAGEMENT:
there are groups in charge of covering different needs: a market group, cooking group, scenography group, photography group, etc.

LOCAL ECONOMY:
on Tuesday, all the food is bought in a local market, thus contributing to the local economy.

MEETING SPACES:
regular meeting spaces in which each group shares its development and needs in order to co-organise the party that is to take place.

AUTOGESTIÓN:
hay grupos encargados de cubrir diferentes necesidades: un grupo de mercado, un grupo de cocina, un grupo de escenografía, un grupo de fotografía, etc.

ECONOMÍA LOCAL:
el martes, toda la comida se compra en un mercado local, contribuyendo así a la economía local.

ESPACIOS DE ENCUENTRO:
espacios de encuentro regulares en los que cada grupo comparte su desarrollo y necesidades para co-organizar la fiesta que se va a realizar.

CONNECTIVITY: “town crier performance” calling everyone to the party: “Jeudi 19h!” (“Thursday at 19h!”). The main local representative accompanies us during the tour, guiding us along the best route through the neighbourhood.

CONECTIVIDAD: “actuación del pregonero” llamando a todos a la fiesta: “¡Jeudi 19h!” (“Jueves a las 19h!”). El principal representante local nos acompaña durante el recorrido, guiándonos por la mejor ruta por el barrio.

ACTIVE LISTENING: compilation of memories and stories of the inhabitants of the neighbourhood transformed into graphic brochures for the event.

ESCUCHA ACTIVA: recopilación de recuerdos e historias de los habitantes del barrio transformados en folletos gráficos para el evento.

COLLECTIVE BUILDING: co-design and co-construction of the scenography. A group of students decides to develop a video, an audio track and a photography presentation to show during the event.

CONSTRUCCIÓN COLECTIVA: co-diseño y co-construcción de la escenografía. Un grupo de estudiantes decide desarrollar un video, una pista de audio y una presentación fotográfica para mostrar durante el evento.

EXHIBITION AREA: showing of eatable architecture experiments, food sculptures done by local children and brochures with neighbourhood memories.

“AUTO-SAVON” TROLLEYS:  “self-cleaning trolleys” to keep the party tidy! Generating a self-organisation of the space.

MAIN EATING TRAIN: arrangement of the food made during the workshop by the students and inhabitants of the neighbourhood, ready to be eaten!

TABLE SITTING AREA: for a confortable resting and eating area in small groups.

FLOOR SITTING AREA: for a closer communication environment and the projection of the film of the workshop week.

DESSERT TRAIN: coming out at the very end, with a cello playing performance and all the desserts, guiding people outside to eat them and finish the party.

ÁREA DE EXPOSICIÓN: muestra de experimentos de arquitectura comestible, esculturas de comida hechas por niños locales y folletos con memorias del vecindario.

CARRITOS “AUTO-SAVON”: “carritos auto-limpiantes” para mantener la fiesta ordenada! Generando una auto-organización del espacio.

TREN PRINCIPAL DE COMIDA: disposición de la comida hecha durante el taller por los alumnos y habitantes del barrio, lista para ser comida!

ÁREA DE MESAS: para un confortable descanso y comida en pequeños grupos.

ÁREA DE SUELO: para un ambiente de comunicación más cercano y la proyección de la película de la semana del taller.

TREN DE POSTRES: apareciendo solo al final, con una actuación de violonchelo y todos los postres, guiando a la gente afuera para comerlos y terminar la fiesta.

The students of ESAD Valence and the inhabitants of the Fontbarlettes district, where the school is located, get to know each other actively, through the daily gesture of eating together, integrating their mutual role as neighbours. We end the week with an open, inclusive, warm and attentive space where we not only share a communal neighbourhood meal, but build community together.

Los alumnos de la ESAD Valence y los habitantes del barrio de Fontbarlettes, donde se encuentra la escuela, se conocen activamente, a través del gesto cotidiano de comer juntos, integrando su papel mutuo de vecinos. Terminamos la semana con un espacio abierto, inclusivo, cálido y atento en el que no sólo compartimos una comida comunitaria de barrio, sino que construimos juntos la comunidad.
